Bill Andrews – Vice-president – Born and raised in Riverside, CA., Bill was crazy about anything with an engine from the time he could walk. Throughout his life, this love of engines was evident in his passion for motorcycles, stock car racing, dune buggies (he built 23), and street rods( he has built/restored many). Moving to the Yreka area in 1968, Bill owned Bill’s Towing/Muffler Shop 24 years; also specializing in metal fabrication. As a Rotarian, Bill was head of maintenance/electrician on two six week trips to Fiji and Mexico to set up medical and dental clinics, a very rewarding experience. Since their retirement 17 years ago, Bill and Nancy have operated a home-based travel agency, Bill’s Tours, filling their passion for traveling. There is always some place we haven’t been! Yet. Currently, his life is held captive by two hobbies: street rodding and railroading. Bill and wife, Nancy, belong to a small number (around 700) of Americans who operate the old maintenance of way railroad cars on track leased from railroads. Needless to say, this hobby also involves an engine! So far, they have about 27,000 miles on the railroad in America and Canada, loving every minute. This is working track, by the way — not abandoned rail! They will be doing 500 miles this summer in Montana. Somehow there is always time for enjoying the pleasures of street rodding and street rodders, our first and foremost hobby! Nancy, a speech/language therapist and teacher of multiply- handicapped/severe needs children, and Bill were members of RVSR in the 1980’s and part of the early Southern Oregon Rod and Custom Shows. Some things never change! Most valued are the friends and people who share our passions , laughs and the fun we have.
Joe & Debbie Dauenhauer – Treasurer – Joe was born in 1949 in Sacramento, Ca, third from the top in a family of 7 siblings. His Dad & his uncle invented the world’s only patented hops-picking machine (beer made out of hops) that Joe’s cousin Tommy now opeerates. He had coached the Ashland H.S. girls bowling team for 5 years, which led to the State Championship in 2000, with youngest daughter Jessica anchoring the team. A proud moment , to be sure! Joe has bowled six sanctioned perfect 300 games, and has a high 3-game series of 846. Debbie was born in 1951 in Oregon City, the “middle child” of 3 siblings. She was active in 4-H, competing yearly at local and state levels in knitting, sewing, and cooking. Her family lived on a 10-acre farm with horses, cows, chickens, cats and dogs. Her dad rode in the performing Clackamas County Sheriff’s Posse drill team that was once featured on the TV show, “You Asked For It.” The posse exists today as a search & rescue team. Debbie’s love for horses was born of her experiences as dad’s favorite “tag-along” while cooling off his horse after performing events at rodeo’s and horse shows. Debbie is a past honored queen of the now-extinct Job’s Daughters organization. Her family moved to Medford in 1969, her senior year in high school. Her parents bought the Oldsmobile dealership then called Weiler Oldsmobile. Debbie graduated from OSU in 1974, with a degree in Clothing & Textiles. Steve Mitchell - Secretary - Steve was born in 1949 in Buckeye, AZ and raised in Vallejo, CA. Steve too was one of those crazy car kids in his early years of high school by owning four different old cars in his senior year alone. While working at a gas station, he would find these cars not running or a project and finish it just to turn around and sell it for his next car. He did this until he went into the Army in 1969. After the Army he became a Journeyman Carpenter out of Local 180. In 1978 Steve became a building inspector and later a building official serving four different jurisdictions in the bay area over a span of 28 years.
Marilee was born in 1954 in Berkeley, CA and raised in El Sobrante, CA. Marilee’s love for children took her to college to received a degree in early childhood education which resulted in her operating a licensed day care out of their home for 12 years. She is currently working as a teachers aid for a bay area school.
Steve and Marilee first met and dated briefly in 1977 and met by chance again in 1981, and married in 1983. They have been involved with real estate and being landlords for more than 20 years. Marilee has been supportive of Steve’s hobby that still involves him finding old cars or trucks that give him great pleasure to bring back to life. He has completed 10 so far that she is aware of. We like to travel all over the US and take in as many car shows as possible. We also enjoy spending time with our Granddaughter Alyssa.
