The Blackie Gejeian’s 49th Annual Invitational Rod & Custom Show for 2008 is ‘in the books’ as they say and what a show it was, see more details in this web site forum. If you’re into attending indoor shows, you are already aware that much of the fun is meeting the owners and builders of some of the fine vehicles on display, reminiscing the good times when the sport was in its infancy and recalling the people and cars that ‘made the scene’. RVSR member Ray Dalke who showed his beautiful ’41 Ford Carson topped convertible there, was especially happy to attend because of the following events.
One of the attractions that Blackie arranged was a small booth where long time custom builder Gene Winfield had an array of early accessories, photos of some of the cars he’d built, posters from earlier events and was always on hand to talk to show visitors and car owners. One afternoon, Ray, who’d heard that Gene had a hand in the 1st modifications to his car, stopped over to ask Gene if this was true? To verify the rumor, they walked over to the car and into the display.
